Chlamydia
Screening in Devon |
| Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the UK. It's most common in men and women under 25 and you don't need to have lots of sexual partners to be at risk, in fact 1 in 10 people tested are likely to have it. Most people with Chlamydia have no symptoms and if left untreated it can lead to long term problems and even infertility. The National Chlamydia Screening Programme aims to control Chlamydia through early detection and treatment and so prevent the long term problems and reduce infection rates. We are now rolling this programme out in Devon PCT area through pharmacies, family planning and GP surgeries. If you are under 25 years old and have had un-protected sex (without a condom) and would like a free screen for Chlamydia, pop into any of the pharmacies listed below. You will get information on how to take the test, be asked to fill in a form and be given a kit so that you can test in the privacy of your own home. All you then need to do is post the kit in the special pack provided. You will be contacted in 3 to 4 weeks with your result and with information on how to get treatment if positive. If you are concerned about any symptoms please contact your GP surgery or local sexual health service. | ||
